Changes

Welcome to my new blog, which will feature the newest paintings from the studio. As some of you know, my work changed fairly dramatically during 2009. So what happened?? I had been thinking about trying to incorporate charcoal drawing into my paintings, so I started experimenting with paint and charcoal on a small canvas. No texture, no grid. I’m not quite sure how it happened, but the result is a whole new body of work. As one friend said, it’s as if my signs and icons escaped from the grid and are free floating in an ethereal space. My longtime interest in the idea of the Collective Unconscious can be seen in the resulting primordial soup, which invites the viewer to contemplate “the spaces in between".
